Adaptopia

Welcome to Adaptopia! Adaptopia is a randomly-generated world made up of tiles and biomes.

Tile Selection

The tile at the center of the screen is always selected. Click to zoom on that tile, and drag to change the tile.

Tile Menu

Found in the top left corner. This menu tells you the biome you are observing, as well as its elevation, humidity, and temperature. Each of these factors determines the habitability of a tile.

Population menu

The little bug-like creatures are your little guys. You can click on a tile to view their population and see information about them, such as the name of the population, their lifestyle, and most importantly, the size of the population compared to the amount of little guys a tile can support.  Little guys will move if a tile is overpopulated. You can also find the Migration and Genetics buttons here.

Generation button

Found in the top right corner. Fast forwards in time to the next generation of little guys. You may notice changes in population numbers and genetic variation from generation to generation.

Genetics

Found in the population menu. Each of the bars in the genetics menu represent a different set of genes. These are called Phenotypes, which are the expressions of genes into observable traits. Each bar is split into colors, representing different variants of each phenotype. Darker colors represent a stronger expression of that phenotype, and lighter ones weaker. The more a phenotype fills with one color, the more people have that variant. Each variant will be passed down to future generations, depending on how effective it is in aiding their survival.

Migration

Found in the population menu. You can select any number of little guys from the population and choose to move them to another tile. Migration is a lengthy process, so you can use the generation button to progress it.
